Yes yes. We are at it again. Did anyone see the Miami and Boston game last night?? Of course you did. It was a phenomenal way to begin the most anticipated season of basketball. With so many changes to so many rosters, all a fan could wonder was how this season’s numbers are going to look and how the power was going to shift in the league. And boy oh boy did we all get a show.

Fouls were being called left and right before five minutes had escaped the first quarter, so odds were that it was going to be a physically intense game. However, something strange happened. While everyone expected Miami to completely dominate Boston the moment the newest Big 3 stepped on to the court, it seemed like Wade and James could not mesh and their lack of game play together showed tremendously. While Wade could not seem to pull it off in the clutch, James was turning the ball over as if this was his rookie season and fans did not pause to react. Tweets were flying second after second about the team’s lack of combined skill and how overrated they were proving themselves to be. But, you have to sit back for a moment and think about all the factors that were present during this game.

First, let’s examine the fact that this is the first real game Wade was able to play with Bosh and James. Having an injury, even as minor as a hamstring, could paralyze even the greatest athlete’s excellence. This team has the talent to make it to the Finals, this is one hundred percent true. Still, they need time just as everyone else in the league to get the genuine feel of their surroundings. None of these young men have had the opportunity to play together before unfortunately and it will show in the first few weeks of the season. But, when they do find a rhythm, they will be a force to be reckoned with indeed.

Second, let’s evaluate who they were up against. Let’s not sit back and pretend like Boston is a squad of rookies. You have Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo. Not to mention the newly signed teammates Shaquille O’Neal and Jermaine O’Neal. They have the size to compete with some of the best we have ever seen so it was not a surprise to me when they began to dominate the game early and kept a constant pace throughout each quarter. These men competed against the infallible Los Angeles Lakers and fought for every inch of respect they receive now.

No matter how the cookie crumbles, this team still needs time. When that time passes, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh will be members of a number one contending team. Mark my words.
