It is pretty easy to lose hope in a player that everyone thought would take the NBA by storm when finding out….. HE’S ONLY HUMAN! John Wall debuted against Orlando tonight and Washington took a beating (112 – 83). Now, I could say that Wall is an overrated prima donna player that did not deserve the attention he was getting when entering the league, and that he should be benched for the rest of the season for poor beginnings. But, I definitely will not.
This young man is way more talented than many of the greatest players were at his age. In Michael Jordan’s debut, he scored sixteen points, six rebounds and seven assists. Wall’s stats looked amazingly similar to those being that he scored fourteen points and had nine assists. Both had less than average percentages, but Jordan is now known as one of the greatest men to ever put his hands on a basketball. Let’s not turn backs to him because he has only just begun to get his feet wet. He still showed the agility and athletic foresight that got him there in the first place.
These guys were playing Orlando. Who seriously thought that they were going to walk away from the court with more than an L? You have Dwight Howard, a force to be reckoned with as far as size and serious efficiency in the paint, Vince Carter, who despite age and a messy start made noise in premiere week tonight, Jameer Nelson, who was seemingly Orlando’s greatest player tonight, and Rashard Lewis who is unbelievable in the clutch.
The Washington Wizards is a young team whose talent needs to grow just like all the others.
