Boston cannot seem to pull it off without KG and Rondo by their sides as Detroit takes over the game from start to finish in a 104-92 loss to a team well below a .500 rating (.344 to be exact after tonight’s win). Of course everyone felt like this was going to be the same old, a pure replica of the beating Detroit took against Boston earlier in the season. But, the Pistons made sure that it was not. Kevin Garnett being injured in the first minutes of the game had something to do with it too of course. After going up for his only two points of the game, a dunk, he was showing signs of pain before even coming back down. Later, x-rays would come up negative for a fracture but he would not return to the game. From there on, it was smooth sailing, for Detroit of course.

The list of injured players on the Celtics’ roster is getting longer and longer as the games go by. Kendrick Perkins, who is set to come back late January early February from a major knee surgery, Rajon Rondo, out for the last six games with a sprained ankle, Delonte West, a broken wrist, Shaquille O’Neal, calf, and Jermaine O’Neal, knee. It is becoming more trying for Boston to even finish a game like their old Eastern Conference Champion selves and the future does not seem to be getting any brighter. Even with Paul Pierce scoring his usual high in points and contributing defensively, the Celtics still grabbed an L.

Detroit on the other hand played a stellar game. It has yet to be seen if the outcome would have been the same had all of Boston’s pieces been in place. Rondo’s quick thinking and footwork alongside Garnett’s powerful defensive presence may have been enough to crush once again. But, they were not so they did not. You have got to be wondering how Villaneuva is feeling about the outcome, seeing as how he and Garnett had a less than friendly exchange of words where Villaneuva claims Garnett called him a cancer patient, with Garnett only admitting to calling him “cancerous to his team and to the league.” Hopefully, this is a reflection of things to come, the rise of Detroit, instead of the fall of a dynasty.
