The decision to bench Rip Hamilton may be looking better and better for the remaining starters of the Detroit Pistons as they walked through the finish line Monday with a 103 – 89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks, even after Dirk Nowitzki returned to game play with 32 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Jason Kidd, though he dished out 13 assists, failed to put any points on the score board himself and finished the night off with 0 for 7 shooting dropping his shooting percentage in the last five games to 26%. The Mavericks have been fortunate enough to cover up his occasional shooter’s block with wins because of the depth that the roster had, but now with Caron Butler missing in action for the rest of the season and Nowitzki just now getting his domination back, his mistakes are magnified.

On the other hand, with each of the Pistons starters shooting for at least 50%, they managed to pull of their third straight win against a team that was speculated to be a playoff contender. Tracy McGrady’s feelings of the roster change does not quite reflect how his outspoken teammates feel as he states that they have finally found their rhythm, that this was something they were searching for and after a while they have finally found it. With Detroit finally playing on the same page, a trade may not be imminent for Carmelo but it definitely seems imminent for Hamilton.
