Keeping in the celebratory spirit for Martin Luther King Jr’s day, there were more than a handful of college and professional basketball games on Monday, including Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls taking on Rudy Gay and the Memphis Grizzlies. Going into the game there were talks tossed around that the team may fall to the Memphis team because not only were they without Joakim Noah but they were now without Carlos Boozer. But, like any great point guard, Rose took his team by the horns a threw them on his back, achieving a triple double in the process. Even though Rose was not the leading scorer on the team Monday, his rebound and assists numbers speak volumes about his contributions to the win. Luol Deng put up his second greatest point total this season with 28, only second to his game against the Portland Trailblazers where he put up 40 and the Bulls walked away with a win that day as well. Rose may be taking that step up to the greatest point guard in the league. But, he had better remain consistent because there are ample candidates standing in line to take his place.
