When one of the Big 3 is out, you can almost bet your last dollar that the game you are watching will be won by the opposing team. Not because the team is not talented but the set up in Miami is very similar to that of the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, in this instance Lebron James is not the only playmaker, Wade and Bosh are major pieces of the equation. There are players on the bench that can make the occasional highlight but the only ones that you trust with the ball in the closing seconds of a tied game is James or Wade, maybe James Jones if he is hot that night. Mike Miller was supposed to be an immediate game changer, but when he is on the court, you tend to forget he is even there. That is until he tanks a field goal or botches a rebound attempt. Hopefully, when he hits 100% health he will make more of a contribution but right now his highly awaited return has proved to be a bust. Still, he i snot the only dimension that needs restructuring in South Beach.
A point guard. I understand that Wade is the shooting guard with point guard abilities, but with full court pressure, the Heat would be able to focus on their own offenses. You see how Boston’s performance changed dramatically when they did not have All Star Rajon Rondo playing by their sides allowing them to focus and control their own offenses instead of worrying about providing offensive opportunities for the other members of the team. Carlos Arroyo? Arroyo would be the ideal asset if his best games could remain consistent. To be honest he does not have the dynamic speed and on court quick thinking to keep Miami in the number one position in the East. In order for them to compete against Boston or even Orlando for the top spot, they need to acquire a guard of Rondo, Rose, Westbrook, Paul or even Nelson capabilities. Someone that shoots and is already making their way to the basket for the rebound. The Big 3 was a start, but they still have a long road to travel.
