This was coming to a head eventually. With all of the issues that John Kuester has presented to the Detroit Pistons players, it is no surprise that many of the stars decided to miss a shoot-around in what seemed to be a protest of their head coach. Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince, two of the main names that had been floating around before the trade deadline passed, were already questionable due to prior injury and Tracy McGrady along with Chris Wilcox, Austin Daye and Rodney Stuckey missed the bus as well. However, Stuckey and Daye managed an arrival towards the end of the media session.
Kuester says, “We’ll go with the group right here because they went through the shoot-around,” but as tumultuous as the season has been for the Pistons with the extended period of Hamilton’s absence on the court, I doubt he will allow the team to step out without their best assets. A game without any of the aforementioned players against a scrappy Philadelphia team will just prove to Detroit fans everywhere why that game should be his last. Wallace and Prince, the team’s seasoned and very necessary veterans, have already expressed their disdain for the coach and body language in the huddle speak volumes. What else is it going to take?
