It was a grim day for Celtics players, who mourned the loss of their friends & fellow teammates Kendrick Perkins & Nate Robinson, in a jaw-dropping; unexpected trade to the OKC Thunder yesterday for Jeff Green & Nenad Krstic. Then to add insult to injury, the Celts also traded Semih Erden & Luke Harangody, for 2013 2nd round pick from Cleveland via Minnesota. Then just when we thought it was over, they gave up Marquis Daniels plus cash considerations for a protected 2nd round pick from Sacramento.
No wonder Boston suffered a 14-pt loss to the Nuggets last night, they were sick!
Here’s what a rocked K.G. had to say about the unexpected moves:
“You made connections with these guys; you get to know one another. We’re not just one of these teams that talk about hanging out, man our whole team hangs out! If you see one of us; it’s like 11, if not 12,13, or 14 around the corner. Hell, Twist[Celtics media relations Czar Jeff] might even be right with us.” ”We loss Semih, we loss Luke, Quis; obviously it’s a tough day, a tough day.”
The toughest pill of all for them to swallow though, was the loss of their boy Kendrick Perkins. The team looked at this dude like family. Coach Rivers even tried to provide a sense of comfort to his team to help them cope the loss.
Here’s what a few of them had to say:
Paul Pierce-” I hate to lose a teammate like Perkins, He meant so much. People don’t understand chemistry is from the bus to the plane to the locker room, so it’s definitely a blow. It depends on how the other guys make the adjustment.”
Pierce also made it his business to stress the example of how the ruthlessness of the NBA can cut both ways. Here’s more of what he had to say: ” It’s the nature of the business. People thought that LeBron James was cold for leaving Cleveland the way it is. This is an example of how it happens on the management end. You can’t get mad at the players because it can happen to them unexpectedly, just like a player can go where he wants. It’s just the nature of the beast.”
K.G.-” Very tough day to play basketball, to even concentrate. Just being bluntly honest. You feel like you lost a family member today. Tough day.”
In the words of Boyz to Men: “It’s so Hard to say goodbye to Yesterday”…Cheer up guys, you’re still a good team.

I know it’s the nature of the business, but in my opinion the Celtics played themselves giving up Perkins.SMH

See I Think This Had alot to do with Money..I Mean Really I Would Never Think a Player Like Perkins Thats Just Rediculous…I Did My Research His Records are in a league of their own when it comes to the Celtics! SHAME -____-
I agree with u Shenik, but I also think it was bigger than that as well. They may have been afraid that Perkins wouldn’t extend his contract once it expired, so they probably didn’t want to take the chances on not doing the trade now while they could still get somebody else to replace him. Think if his contract were to end and he was still with the Celtics, he has the right to walk away, and they wouldn’t have anything. Same as LeBron with Cleveland.
Ms.1 Your Right…I Guess What Better Time To Do It Then Now With all The CRAZY Trades Going On…But I Mean Perkins Just Brought Alot Of Spunk To The Team! I Just Hope It Doesn’t Hurt The Celtics In The End!
this shit is crazyy ! i hope they get back to them normal selves soon ! cause i cant have my team losing anymore .
i think it’s going 2 be a good look for the thunder.a champion big man with the experience some of them young leg’s don’t have..LOl

im so upset ! we lost some very important players all at once ! they shouldve had us citizens of the #celticnation take a vote ! i WISH !
I feel a lot of ways about this trade. Not only was this trade THE biggest jaw dropping trade the NBA has seen in a while, its the most mind boggling. Point number 1:Kendrick Perkins was the heart and soul of the Boston Defense. I guess management pretty much forgot that this man received one of the biggest standing ovations a while back in Boston. And clearly they forgot that Perkins is the singlehandedly missing piece as to why they didn’t walk away with the ship last year. You haven’t lost a playoff series with Perkins, why risk that and trade him. Point number 2: with this trade the Celtics RISKED a shot at coming out in the East. The size that they once had is not there anymore and if the Organization believes they can contend with an aging Shaq and Jermaine O’Neal, send out a SOS ASAP. As bad of a trade that this was for Boston, OKC couldn’t have been any more greatful for the size that they now have to contened in the West. Boston fans you better pray that things will be ok and make more sense as the season goes on.
I thought Boston lost their dam minds when I saw the trade on ESPN! But this absolutely makes the East even more interesting because before this move Boston is the clear cut favorite and now I’m not too sure about that..
I think celtics are a wonderful team we are a team of legacy and We’ve only had squads who are dertermined,Focused, and willing to be a TEAM They have took four players from us who were comfortable with playing with US and who were family of course they were going to be hurt I just wished that they could have handled the trade in a better way than they did and why us why the celtics that they had to make such tremendous trades I wish the best to Perkins,Robinson,Semih,Luke I hope their career flourishes in the league and they have been taught by the best So forever and always will they be Boston Celtics.
Man that had to be the worst trade ever, perkins was the body in the middle, and robinson was the spark off the bench………. so we traded and got bull, so I guess we are rebuilding, so our big 3 signed extension for a championship run , for them to break up the team mid season bull #thatisall
Many thanks for posting this. That’s the most interesting info I have found on this topic.
