Even though the trade deadline has come and gone, there are still many last minute moves in the NBA for the teams still looking for that special player. As fans, we all know that the last piece to the never ending puzzle is nothing more than the highlight of a reoccurring pipe dream, however teams still try to sell the idea to their players and to the media. The latest piece missing from the Miami Heat has now revealed himself to be former Atlanta Hawks/ 2 – game Washington Wizards guard, Mike Bibby.
Even though he has not even put on a Heat jersey yet, his future teammates are giving him the praise only deserved by a Hall of Famer. Dwyane Wade and Lebron James have expressed their excitement with having Bibby sharing the back court with Wade. James also made the statement in an interview that when he was in Cleveland, there were attempts to get Bibby but he headed to Atlanta instead. Guess dreams really do come true.
There is a lot of doubt in the release of Carlos Arroyo and the possible signing of the 13 year veteran. Many analysts feel as though another perimeter threat is not a dire need for Miami, but more muscle and domination in the low post is. The only problem with that is Lebron James and Dwyane Wade show that they have the ability to perform adequately right up under the rim. Power is not necessarily a focal need on this team.
Every threat in the Eastern Conference has a reliable and stable point guard, a specific player that will be able to create the perfect offensive situation in any space on the court. With Bibby in play, the big scorers will be able to concentrate on their own offense. He may not be the starlet, but inserted into Miami’s fast paced transition, he will make some big moves. Maybe even hit a couple of buzzer beater, game winners in the process.
