I didn’t expect to see the amazing turn around from Carmelo coming in the second half. Honestly, I was still expecting to see him play like he had been all night. Not just that, but most expected the Knicks to drop another game. Especially in the presence of Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic, who are just as dangerous outside the three-point line as Anthony himself.
That didn’t happen. Last night the Knicks played with a chip on their shoulder and they very well should have. There is no excuse for how they have been allowing teams to dominate them on the boards and defensively. What was the difference against Orlando?
It’s simple. Carmelo’s hustle. Chauncey Billups, the most overlooked man in the trade, even spoke up post game about how great Carmelo Anthony’s hustle guided the team across the finish line, even through OT. Condoning tripping an opponent? I am not. But, it shows a fire in Anthony that has not been lit since he put on that jersey.
New York, the state, is about the hustle. NY is about the grind. It’s about doing the dirty work. Everything might not look that pretty right now, but when it’s done, it’s legendary. Being that Carmelo is from New York, it is expected that this mentality be carried by him, especially when he is in front of that home crowd.
Time is not on the Knicks side as far as this season is concerned but if they can just hit that “EASY” button like last night—they will be a problem.

I think Carmelo Anthony is a great player but not the best. I think that the New York Knicks might do something in the future but as for this season I don’t see it happening. There is not enough chemistry in the team and they don’t seem to be connecting. Having the best players doesn’t mean winning because big players comes big ego’s. They all have potential but winning one game is just not enough. That loosing streak should be zero. I think that Denver got a better deal. I respect Billups his game is crazy.
