<span id=“From Paris With Love” Tony Parker"/>
Mar 2011 29

Tony Parker was born on May 17, 1982; in Bruges, Belgium and was raised in France.  At 6’2″; 185 lbs., a 19 yr old Tony Parker was selected 28th overall by the San Antonio Spurs in the 2001 NBA Draft.  Tony Parker was the youngest player ever to debut as a Spur.

Parker immediately showed that he could play with the top Guards in the league, after initially backing up Antonio Daniels. Coach Pop decided to hand the keys of the car to Parker; and the Spurs haven’t looked back yet.  Parker has been driving that car like a yellow cab in Midtown, with reckless abandon getting buckets as if speeding around to collect multiple fares.

Tony Parker is a lay-up machine who lives in the paint, like he has a fetish for colors.  Tony Parker has driven NBA lanes to the tune of 3 NBA Championships, all with the Spurs; coming in 03′, 05′, & 07′ in which he was the Final’s MVP.  The 1st Euro Player to ever do so.  TP had played in more Playoff games before his 24th birthday, than anyone in NBA History(77).  Next on that list is Kobe Bryant with 66.

Tony Parker has led the Spurs to an NBA record of 57-16 a season, while exhibiting blazing speed and maneuvering through NBA defenses at the Alamo Dome like Verizon Fios internet service “Clear & Fast” baby!

The Spurs are 33-3 at home, but are struggling as of late.  Maybe it’s due to the lost of Tim Duncan, as they’ve dropped their last 3, and are 6-4 in their last 10 games.

Parker, a career 16.7-ppg scorer, is enjoying a fine season and riding a wave this year posting 17.5-ppg & 6.6 assts per game.  Tony Parker is definitely one of my favorite players to watch ball, so I just wanted to show TP & Paris some love back.

Au Revoir!

    I think he’s great and doesn’t get enough recognition. Maybe it’s because he’s not in a big city like New York or LA. He knows what he’s capable and I think that it’s amazing how he has continued to play so well even through all the personal drama he’s going through.
