Two games to none would have been too much for The Dirkster and his Mavericks to overcome. With a furious rally after trailing by 15-pts to The Heat in the fourth quarter. The Dallas Defense did exactly what it’s done all season. Previously known for their explosive offensive capabilities, with this years acquisition of Tyson Chandler and the insertion of Deshawn Stevenson into the starting lineup to go along with Shawn Marion who can guard multiple positions on the floor, add veteran floor general supreme Jason Kidd, who has always been one of the better defenders in the league and thats a pretty formitable defensive team.
Shawn Marion played a great game with 20-pts and kept Dallas in the game long enough for Dirk and Terry to do what they do, get buckets. The Dallas defense held The Heat to 1 field goal after they called a timeout in which they trailed by 15-pts with under 8 mins left in the contest.
Dirk(24-pts) and Jason Terry(16-pts) rose to the occasion, in the fourth quarter to lead a veteran Maverick team from the brink of 2-0 to stealing uncle Mo and home court advantage. The never say die Mavs performed their second mind boggling comeback of this years post season erasing a similar deficit at the hands of Oklahoma City.
The Heat’s poor late game execution reared it’s ugly head again as they blew another game down the stretch, is Spolestra actually diagramming plays or is just LBJ and Wade go out and play? Wade 36-pts and Lebron 20-pts were putting on an aerial display for much the game, with Harlem Globetrotter type ease. But in the final act Dallas played lock down defense and tested that Heat late game execution.
Dallas guard Jason Terry was quoted as saying”this team is resilient”. Mavs forward Shawn Marion said “The game is over when the final buzzer sounds we always believe we can come back no matter what the score is”. See you Sunday for Game 3 in Dallas.
