With so much talk of Miami’s “Big 3″, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, & Chris Bosh. Â My mind starts reflecting on a few other “Big 3′s”. Â In Boston, you have Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, & Ray Allen. Â This trio has actually produced a Championship, and each has conceded parts of their game for the good of the team. Â This has kept Boston highly competitive with NBA Finals appearances, in 2 of the last 3 years. [..]
There have been so many streaks put together in the NBA this season that you almost get whiplash from all the different directions that sports analysts have traveled in when it comes to MVP candidates. From Chicago Bulls’ leading man Derrick Rose to Orlando Magic’s underrated powerhouse Dwight Howard, there really is no telling which player will ultimately be rewarded for their early season, mid season or late season performances [..]
You ever sat back and really took into account how many times an NBA player has taken to twitter or even said something in a pre or post game conference, that in the next couple of hours to two days was retracted? Sometimes they want the general public to believe that they were simply misunderstood in the things that they said. It has always been a factor in sports but this year, retractions are running rampant, especially in cases where the player intended to strike a chord but not pinch as huge of a nerve. Here are a few [..]
In no specific order:
1. Wilt Chamberlain, Wilt the Stilt, Center: 31,419 pts
Harlem Globetrotters ( 1958-59), Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors (1959-65), Philadelphia 76ers (1965-68), Los Angeles Lakers (1968-73), San Diego Conquistadors (1973) [..]
Miami Heat is starting to set a trend. But, not the one South Beach Championship hopefuls would like to boast about. How many times are we going to have to sit in front of the television and watch them carry these monstrous leads into the second half only to score a handful of points in the 24 minutes remaining? [..]
Born Rodney Strickland; on July 11, 1966 in the Bronx, NY. Â A 6’3″; 175 lbs P.G., Â Rod attended Truman High School in the Bronx, and Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, VA. Â He then went on to attend the University of DePaul in Chicago, where he was a 2x All-American. [..]
With their striking playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers, where they were much younger in game play than they are this season, you cannot help but to think about them as Western Conference contenders in the present. They have made mid-season mix ups that could possibly change the odds in their favor with more size in Kendrick Perkins. But even with all of the hoopla about the league’s most menacing pick and roll duo, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, are they truly in the running to win the Western Conference Championship, let alone the NBA Finals against teams like the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, NY Knicks or Miami Heat? [..]
While watching the 2001 All-Star Game footage, which was won by a smaller East squad led by Allen Iverson, I couldn’t help but notice the group of big men on that West squad. Â It was pretty impressive. Â The East had Alonzo Mourning, who didn’t play due to injury, Dikembe Mutombo, Antonio Davis, Anthony Mason(who was about 6’7″), & Theo Ratliff.
Now check out the Western Conference list of big men: Shaquille O’Neal, who didn’t play due to injury, then you have David Robinson , & Vlade Divac. [..]
You couldn’t miss him…unless you were judging the NBA’s best-player contest.
Dwight’s practically invisible. His numbers have grown to ridiculous sizes lately, but you hear little chatter about his MVP candidacy. [..]
